-Watch the Signs!- I’ve seen some odd signs in my day. Some are just plain funny. I particularly love the “SLOW” signs. You know, the ones that tell you ‘Slow children at play’, ‘Slow Church Zone’ (all the slow churches are on that road!) & ‘Slow Traffic.’ Here are a few more odd/funny signs:
While some signs are funny, some are very important. It’s imperative that you are aware when a bridge or road is washed out in a flood. You want to know that a road is a ‘Dead End’ if you’re expecting to go through to another destination.
I know a young lady who was moving to Florida. When asked about the route she would take she said, ‘Don’t confuse me with road numbers. Just tell me what it looks like.’ While funny, that won’t cut it if you actually expect to get to a destination several states away.
Jesus spoke of certain ‘signs’ that would take place pointing to His return. Later as He was sitting on Mount Olives, His disciples approached and asked Him, "Tell us, when are these things going to happen? What will be the sign of Your coming, that the time's up?" Matthew 24:3 The Message
There’s no way I can spell out a great deal about eschatology, or end time prophecy in these short lines. For that matter, great minds have argued about much of it for centuries. I simply encourage you to be ready. Jesus gave some very pointed signs that would occur as the time draws near to end. Take a moment & read how He responded to the disciples question: Signs of End Times
I’m not standing on a street corner with a placard that says, “The End is Near!” My stance on end times has always been the same: we don’t know WHEN our time in this life is through, it’s just important that we are ready to meet Jesus when our time is through! So many ‘signs’ are taking place & escalating at an alarming rates, that we would do well to Watch the Signs! I’m not an alarmist & telling you ‘the sky is falling.’ The signs I’m talking about are not funny either. The next time you turn on the news & hear of a major earthquake in Oklahoma, or an epidemic of a disease long thought dead, or major economic crash, remember to Watch the Signs, and not just the funny ones. While it might seem harsh or heady, like I said, just be ready.
